SETU Music School Updates – September/October 2023

  • New Ross Piano Festival – Congratulations to students Stephanie Samson and Rajiv Das who performed this year and also to Sasha Keane a member of the Youth Choir who now studies piano at the RIAM.
  • Late Late Toy Show Audition – the Boys and Girls Choir were in festive spirit last week for their audition recording for the Late Late Toy Show – fingers crossed! Thank you to the Choral Programme lecturers and the SETU Sound Team for their help with this recording.
  • IAYO Orchestra Collaboration – Members of Budding Bows and Concert Strings are travelling to Cahir on 18th November for an afternoon of rehearsal with students from Rockwell Music Academy and members of the Banna Cluain Meala Concert Band. This is part of the IAYO Collaboration initiative that supports IAYO members to get together for rehearsals/concerts. The group will be working on a new arrangement of a piece by Eoin O’Keeffe and will record it on the day too!
  • Music Network Masterclass – some of our guitar students with BA Music (hons) students will be participating in a masterclass on 30th November with Jonas Nordberg and Liam Byrne. Once again, thank you to Music Network and Waterford Music for part-funding this for Music School Students.
  • SETU Staff Choir – Congratulations to Sinéad, Oonagh and Gina on their first rehearsal with the SETU Staff Choir in both Waterford and Carlow.
  • Hallowe’en Choir Concerts – the Singing Club and Children’s Choir present a Spooky Concert on Friday 20th October and the Boys and Girls will be performing for parents on Tuesday 24th October.
